Taking the train from Milan is probably the easiest and fastest (yet still pretty affordable) way to get to Lake Como. Since there are no trains from Milan to Bellagio, it’s best to take a train from Milano Centrale to Varenna-Esina Station. This 80-km journey takes just over an hour and costs around €6 – €7 each way.
One-way regular tickets from Malpensa airport to Milano Centrale cost 13€. (there is no round-trip ticket available for Milano Centrale) You can buy train tickets either from the automated ticket machines just before you walk down the ramp to the train platform or from the ticket kiosks which are open from 06:30 a.m to 22:05 p.m on regular working days.
