If the A/C unit says it requires 15A at 230V, then that would end up being 30A at 120V if you had a transformer to step up the 120V to 240V. So no. it's not something that will be easy to accomplish. Yes, it would require an electrician, but it will probably not be cheap or easy. Voltage converters/transformers are used to convert electricity. North America and some other countries operate on 110V/120V AC 60Hz, while most of other countries operate on 220/240 Volts AC 50Hz. Voltage transformers convert the power into different voltage, so your equipment can be powered at different countries without being damaged. Splitting a 240V line into two 120V lines. In my garage I have wiring for a 240V outlet. It is a four-wire setup (two hots, one neutral and one ground). It is set up on a 20 ampere double breaker in the circuit breaker box. I want to remove that outlet and install two 120V receptacles in its place. I plan to run each of the hot wires to the hot

tikAddict. •. The bulb is rated at 120v, you incoming supply is 220v. They work on a different voltage to your power supply. You would need to get a step down transformer to step down the voltage to 120v. Otherwise you could try and order 220v bulbs from EU maybe. 2. Wiltbradley. • 3 yr. ago.

Therefore, it’s normally possible and safe to plug a 240v into a 250v receptacle. Can 220V appliances run on 240V? Yes, any device that is classified in 240 volts and can be used in a 220V socket. If the rated voltage is 240 volts, the boxes can have a power supply of 208V, 220V or 240V.
Less amps gets pulled through at 240v than 120v so it’s fine. The cord says 120v because that’s what the wall plug shape is. In reality it’s 600v rated cable. It’s always 600v rated cable. The plastic coating on the wires is pretty standard. Your only worry is to remember that when you do double the voltage, you can only run half the amps. If you plug an 110V appliance in 220V outlet (same as 120v to 230v, 240v) you can only hope that some protection device disconnects the power to the appliance. Otherwise: It is current that is your enemy, a piece wire that is warm at 110V (120v) will turn into a fuse at 220V (230v, 240v), all other things being equal.

Yes all you need is a plug adapter to convert to the correct plug style. You can either use the world travel set from Apple or by just a plug adapter that the MagSafe will plug into. I concur with the previous poster, it works just fine on 220v as long as you have a converter plug for the electric outlet.
